Excellent experience start to finish – always very responsive to any queries and the turnaround on the property I was buying was very quick, even in the busy time leading up to stamp duty deadline. Jenny was always very helpful and went above and beyond to close on a short timescale.
Davis Blank Furniss – the Manchester based law firm – has appointed Paul Walton, the former senior partner and managing partner of Hill Dickinson, as its new Professional Negligence Consultant. Paul has now taken up his new role and is working out of the firm’s head office on Deansgate.
Paul is a hugely knowledgeable and respected litigator having spent many years building up a strong reputation in the professional negligence sector. His principal role at Davis Blank Furniss will be to work alongside the existing dispute resolution team, which is headed up by Andrew Ryan, in order to strengthen the department; both in the North West and across the UK. Legal Experts – the definitive guide to leading specialist solicitors and barristers – has this year recommended Paul which is a great accolade and testament to his experience.
His work will see him acting for claimants who have received wrong or bad advice from professional service suppliers such as accountants, architects, estate agents, surveyors and independent financial consultants.
Paul has worked on many high profile cases the latest of which was Jones v Kaney A major victory, whereby the Supreme Court ruled that expert witnesses should no longer be immune from suit for breach of duty. This follows Paul’s case of Hall v Simons where the House of Lords removed immunity from suit for barristers and solicitor advocates. Another major and well known case was the action for the Archdiocese of Liverpool relating to the building of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Kate Oldfield, managing partner at Davis Blank Furniss, commented; ‘Paul was looking for an opportunity to focus on strengthening a practice within another firm. This fitted perfectly with us as were are actively developing specific specialist areas, one of which is professional negligence.’
Whilst Andrew Ryan said; ‘We’re delighted to have attracted such an esteemed lawyer as Paul, and we all look forward to working with him to achieve our mutually shared aims.’
Paul added; ‘Davis Blank Furniss has been a respected part of the Manchester legal make up for years so I’m excited to be part of it in the next phase of my career. Hopefully, my experience will add real value to the firm and help further position it for the future.’
