Excellent experience start to finish – always very responsive to any queries and the turnaround on the property I was buying was very quick, even in the busy time leading up to stamp duty deadline. Jenny was always very helpful and went above and beyond to close on a short timescale.
We are delighted to announce that Seán Hackett is now an equity partner. The news follows the retirement of long‑standing partner Andrew Ryan, who was with the firm for 23 years. Seán will join the equity partnership alongside Richard Hamilton, Kate Oldfield and Sonio Singh.
Seán joined Davis Blank Furniss in 2023 as Partner and Head of Property Litigation. Since then, he has played a central role in expanding the firm’s property litigation offering and strengthening its reputation for handling complex, high‑value disputes. He works closely with the wider Property Group, including Managing Partner and Head of Property, Richard Hamilton; and Commercial Property Partner, Rosie Korcz; as well as the wider Dispute Resolution team. He also hosts Portfolio – the firm’s popular property law podcast – alongside Korcz, as well as regular in-person events and webinars.
With over 20 years’ experience in real estate litigation, landlord and tenant disputes and advisory work, Seán is widely recognised as a formidable property litigator. His expertise spans development site constraints, professional negligence claims arising from property matters, and real estate strategy in M&A transactions. He primarily acts for property developers, commercial landlords and tenants, and portfolio owners.
Seán has been consistently ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for more than a decade, and was named one of the top 10 influential real estate lawyers in the North West in the Business Today Lawyer Awards 2023. He regularly acts in high‑value matters before the High Court and has appeared before both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Before joining Davis Blank Furniss, Seán was Head of the Property Litigation department at Myerson Solicitors, and prior to that he was a Director in the Property Litigation team at Pannone Corporate.
Commenting on his appointment, Seán Hackett said: “I’m incredibly proud to be joining the equity partnership at Davis Blank Furniss. Since arriving at the firm, I’ve been struck by the strength of its people, its client relationships and its ambition for growth. I’m excited to play a greater role in shaping the future of the firm and continuing to build on the excellent work of the Property Litigation team.”
Richard Hamilton added: “Seán’s promotion to equity partner is a natural and very welcome step. He has made a significant impact since joining us, bringing exceptional technical expertise, commercial insight and leadership. His appointment strengthens our partnership and positions the firm strongly for the years ahead. We are also deeply grateful to Andrew Ryan for his 23 years of outstanding service and wish him the very best in his retirement.”
