Position Overview

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a full-time Residential Conveyancing Assistant to join our friendly team at our office in Manchester.

Our thriving Residential Property team deals with the full range of conveyancing matters. This role will see you working closely with a Senior Solicitor on interesting and varied matters including sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfer of equity matters as well as HMO property transactions, freehold, leasehold and unregistered titles. You will liaise directly with clients and third parties over the telephone, in written correspondence and face to face, as well as draft documents and support team members with diary and file management which will include opening and closing files, client onboarding, source of fund checks and any other administrative duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Taking full details from new clients and providing them with quotations
  • Liaising with clients, other solicitors, lenders, estate agents etc
  • Keeping the case management system and any third-party applications up to date
  • Carrying out searches and dealing with enquiries from the Land Registry and parties on the other side
  • Administration of all post completion procedures to include submitting applications to the Land Registry (including first registrations) and also Stamp Duty Land Tax Returns
  • Reviewing legal titles etc
  • Reporting to Lenders etc
  • Preparing completion packs for clients to include completion statements and invoices
  • Other post completion work as required

Skills needed:

  • Strong legal skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and assist with a high-volume and varied workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and confidence to liaise with clients, lenders, legal suppliers, and colleagues
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or independently
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) would be an advantage.
